last thursday, adidas sent the entire village to the home opener for our new mls team, the portland timbers. having gone to plenty of columbus crew games before, i was somewhat prepared for the level of play i was about to see. what i was not prepared for was the intensity of the timbers army. having only seen one game, i dont know if this is fair to say, but i believe these are the best fans in the country(including my buddy tony in the front row who i captured on the news thanks to tivo). i know i cannot do the fans justice with my photos, so check out the youtube link above and watch for yourself. i felt very lucky to be a part of the historic home opener for the new franchise. a 4-2 win was a great way to open jeld-wen field, and while i'll still probably be rooting for the crew when they're in town, i have no problem cheering on the timbers every other match.
